In the Riding: January 20th

I hope you and your family had a fantastic holiday season!

This past week, I had the pleasure of welcoming the Solicitor General and York Centre MPP Michael Kerzner.

We recognized the importance of Snowmobile Safety Week, and were able to thank those who work inside the Thunder Bay Correctional Centre.

The Solicitor General and I also went to Thunder Bay Fire Rescue Station 1 for a tour and conversation with Fire Chief Greg Hankkio and the President of the Thunder Bay Professional Fire Fighters Association (IAFF Local 193) Dennis Brescacin.

We also had the opportunity to meet with officials with the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service in addition to those involved with Thunder Bay Probation and Parole.

Having Ministers in the riding Bay is a great opportunity to show them first hand our needs up here in Thunder Bay-Atikokan.

Port Of Thunder Bay

I enjoyed my time listening to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tim Heney discuss the successes and challenges of the Western Canadian terminus of the St. Lawrence Seaway System.

The Port was built to provide access to European markets for Western Canadian grain producers through the longest grain supply chain in the world.

Ornge Announcement

Sault Ste Marie Housing

In my role as the Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, I made my way to Sault Ste Marie Friday to join the newly elected Mayor Matthew Shoemaker as well as MPP Ross Romano to announce an investment of almost $4.4 million through the Social Services Relief Fund to help create 39 affordable housing units.

This is part of our investment of over $1.2 billion to provide immediate housing and homelessness relief across the province.
