JUNE IS SENIORS MONTH IN ONTARIO!
MPP Kevin Holland Celebrates Seniors in Thunder Bay – Atikokan!
June 17, 2025
Today, MPP Kevin Holland announced that June is Seniors Month in Thunder Bay – Atikokan and across Ontario.
“This is a time to celebrate the contributions our seniors have made to make this province the great place it is today,” said The Hon. Kevin Holland, MPP for Thunder Bay – Atikokan. “Our Seniors have built our great community and I look forward to celebrating Seniors Month with them throughout June.”
This year’s Senior’s Month theme, Staying Fit, Active and Healthy, highlights the investments and services that help seniors all over the province stay fit, healthy, active and socially connected to their family, friends and communities.
“Our Seniors deserve all the dignity and respect,” said Raymond Cho, Minister for Seniors and Accessibility. “They are the ones who raised the families, they are the ones who built the communities and Seniors are the ones who built the best province, Ontario, in the best country in the world, Canada. It’s time to celebrate our Seniors.”
There are many ways communities can celebrate their seniors. This year Ontario will celebrate its investments in our Seniors by promoting our historic investments in Seniors Community Grants, Seniors Active Living Centres (SALCs) and Seniors Fairs.
Ontario is investing up to $7 million dollars in Seniors Community Grants. These grants support our seniors by linking activities with services to local and community groups.
The province now has 416 Seniors Active Living Centres. This is an increase of 100 new SALCs due to the largest single investment year by any government in the Ontario’s history.
Last year Ontario held 120 Seniors Fairs. This year Ontario in partnership with the Older Adults Association of Ontario (OACAO) plans on holding over 150 Seniors Fairs.
Ontario is working for seniors so they have more opportunities to stay socially connected, in their communities, and close to their homes so they can continue to have a happier and better quality of life.
