Ontario Supporting Community Programs and Services in Thunder Bay – Atikokan
Two local non-profit organizations receiving $461,500 in funding

Thunder Bay ― The Ontario government is providing two non-profit organizations in Thunder Bay – Atikokan with $461,500 in funding this year to expand and improve successful programs and services, making our community an even better place to live, work and play.
The funding is being provided through the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s (OTF) Grow grant stream.
“Our government believes local programs and services enrich the lives of people in Thunder Bay and play an important role in building a strong community and prosperous economy,” said The Hon. Kevin Holland, MPP for Thunder Bay – Atikokan. “Organizations such as Magnus Theatre and North McIntyre Recreation Centre are pillars of our community. This support will enable them to improve on programs essential to the well-being of people in our communities, making a positive difference for years to come.”
Organizations receiving funding include:
- Magnus Theatre – $295,200
- North McIntyre Recreation Centre – $166,300

“Magnus Theatre is incredibly grateful to the Ontario Trillium Foundation and the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Gaming for their generous support. This funding will allow us to significantly expand our annual Theatre for Young Audiences School Tour, bringing the magic of live performing arts to even more students in communities across Northwestern Ontario. With this funding, we will be able to provide more opportunities for the children in our community to learn, grow, play and develop a greater sense of belonging among their peer groups. OTF Grow grants help non-profit organizations, Indigenous communities, and small municipalities across the province expand the reach of programs and services that are already making a positive impact – helping even more people in more communities like Thunder Bay. Applicants can apply for funding of $100,000 to $600,000 over two or three years to expand, improve or adapt an existing program or service.
