    $9,238,000 Investment under the Homelessness Prevention Program in Thunder Bay

    I had the honor of joining Minister Paul Calandra to announce a transformative investment of $9,238,000 under the Homelessness Prevention Program (HPP), which will create 52 supportive housing units across Thunder Bay!

    I’m incredibly excited to witness this crucial funding enter our riding. I will continue to work with ministries and communities to secure critical investments for our region. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended this announcement, and to The District of Thunder Bay Social Services Administration Board (TBDSSAB) for hosting this significant event.

    Partnering with Northern First Nations to expand Infrastructure

    I accompanied Premier Doug Ford, and Ministers Rob Flack, Todd Smith and Greg Rickford to Kakabeka Ontario Power Generation to announce the partnership with northern First Nations to expand clean, reliable electricity infrastructure and help communities move away from more expensive and intensive diesel.

    City Awarded $870,000 for Exceeding Housing Target

    I had the honor of joining Premier Doug Ford and Associate Minister Rob to celebrate a significant achievement by the City of Thunder Bay.

    We congratulated the city for surpassing their housing target for 2023 and presented Mayor Ken Boshcoff with $870,000 from the Building Faster Fund.

    This milestone is a testament to the city’s dedication to building more homes faster, and I am thrilled to extend my congratulations to Mayor Boshcoff and the entire community. I look forward to continuing our work together to help Thunder Bay flourish.

    Additional $1 Million to Thunder Bay Art Gallery

    Happy to share that the Thunder Bay Art Gallery has recieved an additional $1 million in funding to build the new facility on Thunder Bays Waterfront from the Paterson Foundation.

    Junior Exploration Program 5th wave Applications opening

    I had the pleasure of joining Minister George Pirie as he announced the latest Ontario Junior Exploration Program (OJEP) recipients, as well as the opening of the 5th wave of OJEP applications starting in May.

    Congratulations to all the recipients of this funding, it is crucial to support OJEP projects to create more Exploration jobs that will lead to finding future Critical Minerals mines.

    $45,000 Investment to EcoSuperior

    $2.3 Million Investment to Conseil Scolaire Public du Grand Nord de l’Ontario

    I had the privilege of joining my friend Minister Stephen Lecce to announce a significant investment of $2.3 million in the Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord de l’Ontario for the new École élémentaire publique de Marathon!

    I’m thrilled to see this investment in Marathon. While this school won’t be in my riding, I’m committed to advocating not only for Thunder Bay – Atikokan but for all of region. Together, let’s work towards advancement and prosperity in the North!

    Provincial Government Investing $45 Million to Northern Health Travel Grant

    I was excited to accompany the Hon. Minister Sylvia Jones to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre to announce that the provincial government is investing $45 million to the Northern Health Travel Grant over the next 3 years and will also be improving other aspects of the grant!

    The province will begin implementing expansions and improvements to the Northern Health Travel Grant Program starting in Fall 2024

    I stopped by the Kakabeka Curling Club to watch the finals of the 2024 Northern Ontario Mixed Provincial Curling Playdowns.

    Team NOSA 26th Annual Dinner

    I was delighted to attend the 26th annual Team (NOSA) Northwestern Ontario Sportsmen’s Alliance Dinner and membership awards banquet.

    It was fantastic to see such a strong turnout, with 500 hunters, anglers, and trappers in attendance to support this great organization! Although I didn’t win a prize in the raffle, I’m looking forward to trying again next year.

    I had the pleasure of attending the 100th anniversary Gala of the Port Arthur Rotary Club.     I had the privilege of joining Premier Doug Ford to meet the great folks at Nordmin Engineering Ltd.

    It was also great to talk with Director Harold Harkonen, Director Kurt Boyko and General Manager Greg Menard. Thank you for your hospitality, I’m looking forward to meet with you in the future.

    Rob Flacks Visit to Thunder Bay

    I was delighted to bring my friend Associate Minister Rob Flack to my hometown of Kakabeka Falls during his visit to Thunder Bay for the Building Faster Fund announcement. Always great to showcase the beauty of our region to visitors!

    Ontario Prospectors Association Convention with Minister Pirie

    Had a great time with Minister George Pirie at the Ontario Prospectors Association (OPA) Showcase in Thunder Bay. I enjoyed stopping by booths to connect with local organizations and discuss how I can best support their efforts in my role as PA to the Ministry of Mines.

    Tour of Confederation College Facilities with Minister Dunlop

    I was happy to join my friend Minister Jill Dunlop to tour Confederation Colleges biomass plant, as well as the Aviation Centre of Excellence.

    Tour of Aviation Centre of Excellence with Minister Lecce

    I had the pleasure of visiting the Aviation Centre of Excellence (ACE) with my friend Minister Stephen Lecce. We toured the facility and met with students from Westgate Collegiate and Vocational Institute that are participating in the Specialist High Skills Major program.

    It was inspiring to see the enthusiasm of the students and hear their feedback about the program. The range of subjects they get to study is impressive. Thank you to the Aviation Centre of Excellence for hosting us and for the valuable work you do!

    Tour of the Children’s Centre with Minister Parsa

    I had the privilege of touring the Children’s Centre Thunder Bay with Minister Michael Parsa. I want to extend my gratitude to Diane Walker for hosting us at the office. It was wonderful to meet your team and have the opportunity to discuss the needs of the Children’s Centre!

    Carpenters Local 1669 Training Centre Tour with Minister Calandra

    I had the honor of accompanying Minister Paul Calandra for a tour of the Carpenters Local 1669 Thunder Bay Training Centre. It was a fantastic experience to meet the students and learn about the courses the Training Centre offer.

    I had the pleasure of joining the Honorable Minister Sylvia Jones for a tour of the Children’s Centre Thunder Bay, where we met with the dedicated staff. The center is doing exceptional work, and I look forward to continuing our collaboration with them!

    Minister Jill Dunlop and myself had a great meeting with the Red Lake delegation on the first day of NOMA.

    We had great discussions with the delegation and will continue to work with them with the matters they brought up at the meeting.

    It was a pleasure to join my friend Minister Jill Dunlop to tour the different booths setup throughout the conference and attend delegation meetings throughout the day.

    NOMA – Delegation Meetings with Minister Smith

    I attended several delegation meetings at the Northern Ontario Municipality Association with Minister Graydon Smith . It was a great opportunity to meet with representatives from the City of Thunder Bay, the Township of Terrace Bay, and The Alliance to discuss key regional issues. We explored ways in which the ministry can support economic development and sustainable growth in the North.

    NOMA – Minister Forum

    Thank you to Ministers Paul Calandra, Greg Rickford, Lisa Thompson, Michael Parsa, Stephen Lecce, and Jill Dunlop for joining me in Thunder Bay for the Northern Ontario Municipal Association (NOMA) forum.

    It was great to hear our government’s plan to build ontario under the leadership of Premier Doug Ford, which will bring prosperity, jobs and sustainability in Northern Ontario.

    Green Shirt Day

    On Green Shirt Day, we remember the selflessness of Logan Boulet, a player of the Humboldt Broncos, in his choice to be an organ donor.

    His choice helped to save 6 lives.

    We continue to honour the victims and survivors of the Humboldt Broncos tragedy by spreading awareness about organ and tissue donation across Ontario.

    Local Artist Showcased at Queens Park

    This great piece of art that’s hanging in Queens Park is made by local artist Nicole Sutherland from the Thunder Bay – Atikokan Riding! It’s great to see our local artists being showcased at the provincial level.

    Volunteer Appreciation Week

    As part of Volunteer Appreciation Week, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to Sarah Garrow-Woycheshen and Beatrice Metzler for their dedication and hard work at my constituency office. You both are valuable members of my team, and I truly appreciate all that you do.

    Meeting with Frontier Lithium

    Ministers George Pirie, Victor Fedeli, Greg Rickford, and myself met with Frontier Lithium and the Mitsubishi Corporation at Queen’s Park.

    It was great to discuss the recent Frontier Lithium and Mitsubishi Corp joint venture to advance the first fully integrated Lithium operation in Ontario.

    Chemistry Industry Association of Canada Meeting

    Had a great meeting with Don Fusco, Ken Faulkner, Den Pearson, Andrea Smotra, Ryan Waines, and Patrick Kelly from the Chemistry Industry Association of Canada.

    Thank you for taking the time to meet with me at Queens Park to discuss the chemistry sectors role in critical mineral processing.

    Meeting with Dr. Gautam Das and Ben Hubbard

    I met with Dr. Gautam Das and Ben Hubbard on behalf of the Lakehead University Faculty Association. It was great to sit down and talk about the challenges and successes that LUFA has had.

    I joined a meeting with Minister George Pirie, Rudy Wahl, and Neil Pettigrew to discuss exploration opportunities across Northwestern Ontario. Exploration is crucial for our province’s mining sector to discover future mines.
