Investments in the Riding
$1.7 Million Investment to Social Services Relief Fund
Our government is investing nearly $1.7 million through the Social Services Relief Fund in two projects to help create 16 housing units in the Thunder Bay District.

Multiple Health Investments throughout the Region
I was in Nipigon on Thursday where I announced just over $800,000 in funding for hospitals in the District as part of our Health Infrastructure Renewal Program.
Nipigon District Memorial Hospital received $111,938, North of Superior Health Care Group received $482,720 and the Sante Manitouwadge Health Hospital received $243,514.
NOHFC Investments in Atikokan
While in Atikokan I was happy to announce that BIO Energy Power, Branch Seine River Lodge and Beaten Path Nordic Trail will share a combined total of $610,057 from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation. These investments will help expand the operations of these businesses.
Atikokan Hospital Upgrade Announcement
I was at the Atikokan hospital on Wednesday to announce $794,057 for upgrades to the hospital sprinkler system under the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund. This is part of our governments investment of over $182 million dollars in 131 hospitals and 64 community health care providers in Ontario.

I met with executives of Intact Insurance to discuss the rising cost of insurance for many in the Northwest and the claims handling process causing concerns for many businesses associated with the industry.

I recently met with executives from 4 Northern Ontario District Social Services Administration Boards to discuss needs for the North and how to address some of the more pressing files.

Opening of NAN Offices Thunder Bay
I was happy to attend the opening of the new NAN offices in Thunder Bay
Tour of George Jeffrey Children’s Centre
Really enjoyed my visit today to the George Jeffrey Children’s Centre to see the facility and all of the great work that the staff do

NOHFC Announcements
NOFHC Funded Interns in Atikokan
I was pleased to announce that the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation provided over $96,000 to three organizations in Atikokan for interns. The Atikokan Literacy Inc, Caron’s Auto and The Atikokan Museum each received funding to assist in hiring needed interns to help them achieve their goals.
NOHFC Funded Intern in Nipigon
While in Nipigon I had the opportunity to meet Sam Hendricken who is the new financial intern for the Township of Nipigon. Nipigon received $35,000 in funding from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation. Congratulations Sam and all the best for your future.
NOHFC Funded Interns in Red Rock
I visited the Red Rock Township office to congratulate Braedon Plemel on his new internship position. The township received $35,000 form the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation for the position. While there I met with Councillors Nancy Gladun and Gord Muir as well as members of the administration, who began their employment with the township as interns, Congratulations Braedon.
