Celebrations and Achievements

Border Cats Canada Day Celebration

I would like to thank the Thunder Bay Border Cats for inviting me to be a part of their Canada Day celebrations this weekend.

It was great to meet some of the young players and cheer them on. I wish them good luck as they continue their journey towards the title.

Alstom in Motion Celebration

Today we can truly celebrate ‘Alstom in Motion’! In May 2021, our government worked hard to ensure that the Alstom – Thunder Bay Plant was awarded a significant $568 Million contract, supported by tri-level government funding. Hundreds of well-paying jobs were saved as a direct result of this investment.

The ALSTOM team in Thunder Bay have been hard at work assembling 60 new electric streetcars. Soon, they will be taking a road trip to Toronto to start rolling out service beginning in September into the New Year. We want to acknowledge the Alstom team and wish them continued success on their journey in leading the way to greener and smarter mobility innovations across the globe!

To The Hon. Caroline Mulroney, Minister of Transportation, we thank you and our government for recognizing the value in working collaboratively with federal and municipal partners to champion these important public infrastructure projects. Congratulations, TTC!

Indigenous Youth Creative Writing Awards and the 50th Anniversary of the Fort William Historical Park

I was honoured to attend the James Bartleman Indigenous Youth Creative Writing Awards and the 50th Anniversary of the Fort William Historical Park, with the Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, and Minister Michael Ford, Minister of Citizenship and Multiculturalism. Congratulations to all the award winners and to the FWHP on your milestone anniversary.

100th Anniversary of the Royal Canadian Naval Reserve

It was fantastic to see such a great turn out at the Canadian Coast Guard & Maritime History Day which was a joint celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Royal Canadian Naval Reserve.

Thank you to all who are on the waters protecting & serving the people of our region

Meeting Tony and Patrick and Recognizing their Achievements

I was pleased to meet and engage with Tony Bosch and his grandson Patrick recently. Tony resides in beautiful Maple Creek, SK.

As he approaches his 76th birthday in July, please join me in celebrating Tony for choosing to complete his PhD in Theology at this time in his lengthy, diverse, and successful career from South Africa to Canada and the US. Tony is also a very proud Papa, as Patrick received the Academic Excellence Award for his grade 6 class this year! Thank you for your faith and good works, Tony!

Touring Local Dairy Farm

I recently had the pleasure of touring a local dairy farm with Rob Flack, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Agriculture, Food And Rural Affairs.

It was fantastic to see the technological advances in the industry and to be able to appreciate the immense work that goes into this demanding 24/7 job. I would like to thank Bernie Kamphof of Kamdale Lands for hosting our tour.

Our Kids Count Family BBQ

It was great to have a tour and be a part of the Our Kids Count Family BBQ! So amazed at all the great work they are able to do for the families in Thunder Bay!

Thank you, Jackie Knough and team for your dedication and hard work!

Veterinary Act Roundtable

Great to be with our hardworking farmers and veterinarian representatives at the Veterinary Act Roundtable today at Lakehead University.

I would like to thank Parliamentary Assistant Rob Flack, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, for making the trip to Thunder Bay and offering this very important opportunity for our stakeholders to share of their local experience, expertise, and recommendations for meaningful enhancements to the Act. We acknowledge and thank you for all that you do!
